Finally updating on Branston's B-day

So I have been meaning to get back to this one. Branston's birthday was low key since Maisey and I were sick. It was totally different because we didn't have anyone over for a party, I didn't want to get others sick.

(BTW, for about two weeks this bug passed from Seth, to Branston, to me, to Maisey, back to Branston and Seth. We are finally over it...crossing fingers and knocking on wood. Branston had a burst eardrum and that is finally healing.)

Anyway, I wanted to make a cow cake. I know I have almost no talent when it comes to cake decorating(even though I took cake decorating in like 7th grade at Whittier... or Irving middle school?) but I tried. I cleaned most of the day just because Maisey was so melow form being sick that I actually could(I know that almost sounds like a good thing but really I would have rather had Maisey be healthy).

I had taken the kids to the doctors office that morning too. So fun I tell ya. I had to carry both of the kids because Maisey wasn't wanting to walk because she felt so sick. *Well I had Branston in the umbrella stoller that has horrible wheels in front and I was pushing him with one hadn and holding maisey in my other arm. I hiked through the parking garage at the hospital(this is where my pediatrician is) then up to the hospital and through the new constructed area... down the hall to the doctors office... seriously, it was not easy and my arms were so sore after that. NOBODY MESS WITH ME...I"VE GOT GUNS! LOL. Not to mention that everyone I passed looked at me and either laughed, smiled, stared, or made statements like "she's got her hands full" or "what a load?" It was quite the trip and i have had to go back two times since. The next time was worse b/c I didn't have the little umbrella stroller so I had one kid in each arm. Whew my arms were even more sore that time... the last time I went, I went prepared... a stroller for Branston and a Snuglie for Maisey. Very goofy looking but it worked and I didn't die by the time I got there.

OK, back to Branston's b-day. He got a toy farm truck from Grandma and Grandpa Thompson and a cute card with $10 from Grandma and Grandpa Wilson. I made him 3 reversible ties and 5 blocks with bells in them, which he LOVES. And we also got him a toy truck. He loves his new toys and gifts.

Here is a list of a few things about Branston.

*So he has taken one step by himself and loves to walk around while holding onto fingers or to furniture but no actual walking by himself yet.

*He got his fourth tooth by his birthday too.

*He says mama, dada, uh oh, thank you, kucka, uh uh, nu no, and a couple other jibber jabber words.

*He has the biggest dimples ever, and I LOVE them

*LOVE his chunkiness too! Especially those thighs!
*He loves to follow everyone around the house... and if he can get ahold of your legs/pants he will stand up behind you and walk around with you.

*He STILL nurses... not something I really want... I hope I can get him weened soon, thought I would have been able to a couple months ago and it didn't work out.

*He loves to go outside and play in the grass, dirt, leaves, and acorns.

*Loves his walker and can get pretty much anywhere in our little house... which is pretty amazing b/c the hallway is barely wide enough for the walker to fit in.

*Loves watching cartoons with his big sis

*Likes pulling sis's hair or attacking her at random

*Loves just playing with sis too... Maisey and Branston are becoming best friends now.

*He is good at giving hugs and kisses and snuggling. LOVE THAT!

*He has a cute bubbly bum... like his dad:)

*His laugh is so dad gom cute!

*Basically he is just perfect!

We love our baby boy so much! We could not ask for anything more... Our beautiful little girl and handsome little boy! We are blessed!

Bread Recipe & Pics

OK, so here is my picture of my concave bread machine loaf to compare with my new and every so yummy loaf of bread. I have come a long way! :)And these are the yummy breadsticks that I made out of the same dough. And my two kids enojying those breadsticks... they must be good if my kids like 'em!Now for the recipe....
Set oven to 400 degrees
2 cups of warm water(120 degrees to make the yeast work)
2 Tbsp yeast
2 Tbsp sugar
2 tsp salt
1/2 cup oil
5-6 cups flour(I used 5)
(you can also add in dough enhancer, but I didn't, 2 Tbsp if desired)
Combine water, sugar, yeast and let work for a couple of minutes. Add in salt and oil then sift in half of the flour and then the other half and mix until forms a ball. Nead for 5 minutes. Let rise for 15-20 minutes. Nead again and let rise for another 5-10 minutes. Seperate in smooth loafs in desired size, spread butter on top, and cook about 20-25 minutes.
*For breadsticks, roll out dough into a rectangle about 1/2 inch or so think. Cut with pizza cutter 1" strips. Spread butter on top. Let rise for 5-10 minutes. Sprinkle garlic salt/powder and a little basil to your liking. Cook for about 10-12 minutes.
BTW, I do not have a fancy mixer. I used a hand mixer and then neaded by hand. Anyone can do it if I can:)

Something good!

So while today is one of the longest worst days... every single person in this house is sick... kids are screaming like crazy... it is freezing cold outside... we didn't go to church(b/c we are all sick) there is ONE good thing that occurred today... a milestone as a mom, you could say.... atleast a milestone for this mom....

I made BREAD & BREADSTICKS and the DOUGH ACTUALLY ROSE!

Some of you might remember a post a long while back pleading for help from anyone with bread making skills and the picture I posted of my last try with bread, in the bread machine to say the least...

the actual loaf wasn't even flat... it was worse, it was concave! Yes, it was more like a bread bowl than a bread loaf....I've moved up in the world! My bread actually rose and looked like a super yummy delicious loaf that is was meant to be. I could have cooked it slightly longer but I was so excited to see how well it was turning out that I just wanted to cut right into it. I don't have the pics on my computer yet but SOON my friends, soon there will be proof that I can now bake a loaf of bread!

I contribute this turn out to two things, a different recipe and to following Amanda's(and other's) advice in making sure the temperature of the water was correct for the yeast to come alive.

I'll post pictures and the recipe later but I was just too excited that I had to talk about it!

Happy 1st B-day Branston!

So I just needed to jot down a few notes about the day, I'll finish up a bit later.

6:45am Maisey woke up with a fever of 102.2 and puked 4 times

9:45am got to Doc's office only to find out that she has to just ride it out(7-10 days)... swine or the other bug... adna or something like that.

*Maisey and Branston wiegh the same now... both are 26 1/2 pounds.

12:45 got home from doctors & store for medicine(tylenol & ibuprofen)

cleaned house while Maisey watched Nemo over and over...

Made B-day cake- cow... frosting was difficult

6:30- got to eat dinner & have b-day with just us.

(I ate 3, yes 3 donuts at the store while waiting for meds... that was breakfast & lunch, and had hot dog & tator tots for dinner, an ol' farm yard dinner to go with the cow cake and the toy farm trucks he got).......

Both kids are in their birthday suits today, Maisey needs to keep her fever down, Branston just needed to get messy with his food:)

Tinker Bell & Chunky Monkey....

Maisey absolutely LOVED halloween. Branston... not so sure he enjoyed having to wear his costume but it must have been some what comfy because he always fell asleep in it!
I have always made Maisey's costume for Halloween. The first year was just adorable(Anne Geddies Flower girl), the second super cute(Tutu CowGirl... with belt, vest, boots, and decked out hat, Julie style... with seashells and ribbon), and this year she really wanted to be Tinker Bell... worked out well because I had everything I needed to make a tinker bell costume.

Although, I started with the wings and they got all the creativity and time... by the time I got to the dress.... well, lets just say it was more thrown together. As for Branston... I didn't even try to make his costume for a couple of reasons... 1)what costume do you make for a boy? 2)I had a super cute monkey costume handed down to me from my sis 3) he is the perfect Chunky Monkey!

The week was full of fun Halloween Parties. There was the neighborhood party on monday, the university party on Wednesday(although we missed it), the ward Trunk or Treat on Thursday, a friend party on Friday(thank you!), and of course Halloween on Saturday and we got to go to a fun trick or treating event at a strip mall where Maisey couldn't stand still because she just wanted to go the next person and say "Trick or Treat" so bad. She thought it was pretty awesome that all she had to do was say those magic 3 words and people would hand her a piece of chocolate candy. Seriously, almost all of the candy was chocolate, her favorite. I wonder where she got that from?! She keeps saying Trick or Treat when she wants some candy too! Seth was so kind to go, he really didn't want to because it was super busy and he's not much for big crowds of people. Thanks hun!
Branston missed out on actually getting the candy... you snooze ya loose buddy! Although sis was very kind and shared... with all of us!

Happy Halloween!

Private again?!

So I know this is lame but I was rethinking the whole going public and as many of you know, I have a blog for My Lil' Budget Books and I sometimes forget that it is linked to this blog too. I really don't want all the customers and random people to see all the personal details of my life, that is just for close family and friends.... so once again I will be going private. I will send out invites all over again. And for those that missed it last time around, leave me your email and I'll send you an invite too:) Thanks, sorry I am a flip flopper! LOL.
